My sweet kinders face many challenges in their day to day lives. I work in a Title 1 school with an astounding 95% of students qualifying for free/reduced lunch. Their poverty level affects them in many ways, from their very basic needs not being met all the way to their feelings of self worth. For nearly all of my students, coming to school is the only time they feel safe and carefree as a child should feel. It is my hope that school becomes more for them than a safe place where they receive a certain 2 meals. I want it to be a place of wonder, fun, excitement, and learning. I want it to be the catalyst for change -- pushing these sweet little people to do amazing things. I believe it all starts in the Kindergarten classroom... in my classroom, with these very special students.
