Our young scholars reflect many cultures with the highest percentage of Hispanic and African-American nationalities, all yearning to learn. Ninety eight percent of our students receive free and reduced lunch. We strive to ensure academic success for every student by implementation of engaging, hands-on student centered instruction. I teach music concepts integrated with literacy, math, science and history. In addition to merging appropriate core subject content with music, I incorporate life lessons as I communicate to my students the importance of building positive character traits. Teacher, student mentoring, engaging classroom instruction, a technological rich learning environment coupled with creating on-going community partnerships helps our students to optimally learn and thrive in and outside of the music classroom.
