Sixty five percent of our school population is free and reduced lunch. I teach in K-5 classrooms where presently about 60 percent of students are performing below grade level. Your gifts of books, dictionaries, and technology will give students more opportunities for closing the achievement gap and become proficient at their grade level. Our school is in need of building classroom libraries that lack because of budget cuts. It is very expensive making copies at our school so the hopes of obtaining more laptops for classrooms would be wonderful learning tools. With more classroom laptops students will be able to pull up more online resources and view them at the same time the teacher is teaching. Budget cuts also does not supply us with all the materials we need to support instruction or just provide for students who do not have resources from home because family budget restraints.
