My students have to overcome a variety of obstacles. First, they are growing up in a low socio-economic area of South Florida. Secondly, most of these students are immigrants having left their home country and coming to the Land of Opportunity. Over 95% of our school is on free or reduced lunch. Most parents work just to put food on the table. Luxaries like computers, or tablets are rare in most of their households. Sadly, because of budget cuts a lot of access to technology is not avaliable in school. Therefore, placing these students at a disadvantage in this technology driven world.
