My students have the challenge of mastering 3 languages; Spanish, English and mathematics. The students I serve are economically disadvantaged but are very eager to master the language of math! Most of my students do not have a computer at home, so school is their only connection to technology. We are a Title 1 school with exceptional students who come to us ready to make the connection between what they are learning in class and apply it to their lives outside of class. My students often tell me that the white schools that they see on TV. have laptops and or ipads, why don't we? The only answer I can give them is that our district can't afford to provide every student with a laptop or an ipad. My Hispanic students should have the same opportunities as affluent students regardless of where they attend school! Our school is an Engineering School and my students are excited to come here expecting to apply what they've learned in their math class to current technology.
