There are not many resources for older students when it comes to social/emotional concerns. Many of the items in this project will help students in managing their feelings and make the environment in my office more calm and inviting. The project includes chairs for students to sit in to have more comfortable seating. There is a dimmable lamp included to make the space more calm and inviting. There are several decks of cards that students can use to learn to manage their emotions or stress when the seek counseling help. I have also asked for journals that I can give to students for them to journal their feelings and release tension through their writing rather than self-harm. Students are really struggling with social/emotional concerns since returning to school after the global pandemic. Any resources we can provide these students will help them in managing their feelings and emotions which in turn will allow them to be more successful in the classroom. School counselors have seen a rise in social/emotional concerns and we are left with little to no resources to help our students. I have 450+ students on my caseload, so they would all benefit from this project. Your support would be greatly appreciated for this project!
