I work with the most lovable, eager to please students. They are full of potential and desire to succeed. They are also freshmen and sophomores whose bodies require far more movement than a typical high school schedule allows them. Factor in bus rides of greater than twenty miles for many, and you see that I have kids who need to move. Our school is the center of our community, but it is not an affluent one. Two of these chairs were approved in the budget for this year. I have received them, and they are wonderful. Over the summer, every student who has visited our classroom has raved about the chairs. They are all trying to figure out how to get to class early to claim a chair. Unfortunately, I will not be able to purchase more chairs this year. These chairs will provide many physical benefits for my students, including an opportunity to build core strength and develop better balance. Academically, the ability to stretch and move without distracting others is invaluable.
