I have two 5th grade math, science and social studies classes. Both classes consisting of a total of 41 students. The majority of my students are Hispanic, with a minority of the students being African American. It is a lower social economic population. My students are eager to learn and love to move around. There favorite part of math class is when we do our math centers. These centers are done daily to reinforce math skills they have not yet mastered or are having difficulty understanding. Many of my students still struggle with very basic math skills. The pressure is on for both the student and teacher to perform well on the standardized test given later in the year and I am looking for modern ways to help them learn he subject and increase their scores.
