We are in Florida and attend an awesome high school. We are in a lower middle class area. My students have various disabilities ranging from emotional problems to learning disabilities. Many read at a 1st grade level and are still learning basic math skills. We have been working on counting money and they love it. Many are nervous when they shop and end up giving more than they need to. They said they just give it all and walk away. I hope to give them the courage and skills to be savy shoppers. Some kids come from group homes, many from broken families and some help support the family. My higher students have part time jobs which I visit during the week. They want to work to pay for their gadgets and have extra spending money.
