I teach in a special education classroom. I provide intensive instruction in reading; specifically phonics instruction. My students need frequent repetition of taught skills. Orton Gillingham is designed to address the needs of students with dyslexia. Decodable passages from this program are the perfect fit for my students and will provide the much needed practice they need. I will use the Phonics Teacher Guides to help develop lessons and guide my instruction and the Teachers Pay Teachers to purchase additional materials for reading instruction. The headphones with microphones will make it possible for my struggling readers to use technology to provide accommodations in the general education classroom such as speech to text, text to speech and immersive reader. Technology provides them with the tools they need to be more independent and successful.
