This school year I began a ukulele program with my fifth graders. My school was able to start me off by buying seven ukuleles and I bought two. Students currently share ukuleles in groups of two and three in my classes. The kids are really catching on very quickly and I would like to start a ukulele club. Playing the ukulele is giving the children an artistic outlet that so many of them need and deserve. Some of them get such a boost of self-esteem by being part of something like this. If I had more ukuleles, I would be able to start the club.
