I teach a fabulous group of special education fourth and fifth grade students in a Title I school which is located in a poverty stricken neighborhood in Jamaica, Queens. Many of my students face difficult obstacles in their home life and neighborhood; however they are extremely resilient. Despite the dysfunctions of the neighborhood, my students know that school is a safe and fun place. My students are passionate and excited to share during discussions and class meetings.
