I have one wobble seat in my classroom, which is placed in the back next to the students that have to stand to learn. I have seen first hand the benefits that movement has on learning. An uncomfortable student is an unproductive student. Research conducted by the Mayo Clinic (Rochester) in 2008, report that students are more attentive when they are able to burn off excess energy while sitting. Wobble seats will encourage a more active, engaged, relaxed, and enthusiastic student. They will be extremely beneficial for focus in small group instruction, and used as an alternative chair for the student that just needs to get some wiggles out!
