My students come from the community of Bankhead in Atlanta, GA. I have 10 boys and 12 girls. All of my students are African American. My students are eager learners, wanting to expand their knowledge as quick as I am able to deliver it to them. They are hard workers, determined to accomplish and succeed what is presented to them. They are motivators, never wanting to give up and keep trying even when the task is challenging. Most of all, they are supporters. They support each other and show how much they care and trust one another. I would describe my school as a safe zone for this community. A place where students AND parents can learn new things, make mistakes, get support, be encouraged, listen, be seen, be heard, challenged, motivated, and lifted. Although no school is perfect, and we definitely have our challenges, we are working towards that perpetual goal of perfection.
