I work at a very low income school where I encounter many students from diverse backgrounds as well as a high population of English as a Second Language students. The entire school is offered free breakfast and lunch. Despite the challenges these children may face at home or in their community. They are wonderful children who have minds like sponges and are willing to try anything new. They want to have fun, but most of all they want to LEARN. Despite the budget cuts, I will continue to purchase the necessary materials for my room so my students can achieve excellence. With the changing times and new technology, it is my job to integrate technology into the classroom to meet all the learning needs of each child. Not all children learn the exact same way therefore, I need to find new motivating ways to introduce new concepts and skills. "We are not just getting ready for 1st grade, we are scholars preparing for college. Students go to school because they have to. Scholars go to school because they want to."
