Research shows that florescent lighting can trigger seizures and headaches. In my special education classroom, I have one student who has a seizure disorder that would benefit from different lighting. All of my students can benefit from the lighting as a motivational reward for achieving goals. Students can also benefit by using the sensory lighting as a calming strategy during meltdowns. A colleague at my school has won a grant for lighting in her classroom and seen success in her classroom as a direct result. I would like to see the same success in my classroom.
