The students showing an interest in computer science are not always traditional students. There are no programs like this in our state at this time. Our school is described as an innovative, technology school and this would give them another step ahead. Funding is limited and there is a lot of emphasis on testing and the core subjects. The students want to see more relevant, real applications of their curriculum. They want to explore technology and there are few ways for them to learn more in our setting. Having a computer science club and AP computer science class, introduces students to a world of possible, high paying jobs they may never have considered.
