Our Hawaiian students do not come from a rich neighborhood. They do not live lives of luxury and comfort. In fact, many of them face adversities that one could not even imagine. Some of them have parents that are in prison. Some of them are homeless. Some of them don't have enough to eat. Some are put in charge of caring for babies and multiple siblings when they are still babies themselves. In spite of all of these hardships, these children are the most kind, sweet, ambitious, resilient, and AMAZING kids I have EVER worked for.
