My students are hard working, wonderful people. But, many of them come from economically disadvantaged families. Many of our families struggle to feed and house their families and cannot afford a graphing calculator for their student. Some of my students work part time to help pay the bills. This situation places my students at a great disadvantage competing with other local students for a limited number of places at our local universities. Having graphing calculators available for students to check out would enable my students to keep up in my class and to compete for a better future.
