The students that attend our school come from high poverty and high crime neighborhoods. Our school is 100% free and reduced breakfast, lunch and snack. The students here are often overwhelmed with daily survival and this school becomes a safe haven for many of them. Because of their backgrounds many of them come in with reading and math deficits which requires that we obtain multiple resources to help the goal of closing the achievement gap. While the students here have obstacles and lack of resources in many cases their perserverance and capability to learn shines through. With the proper motivation and help these students are able to achieve anything.
