You are hungry; you are thirsty; you are cold; you need to use the restroom. Imagine not being able to communicate these basic wants and needs. The students I work with struggle communicating their basic wants and needs daily. The iPad can give my students a voice. I work with children ranging in age from 3-10 years old with various diagnoses including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, and various speech impairments. I work in an urban area at two elementary schools where 95% of the students are on free or reduced lunch. I love working with my students! They are eager to learn and have so much they want to say.
