These eager, hardworking students aren't just learning how to play notes—they're learning how to become real musicians. Using the method books, students are building strong fundamentals, practicing independently, and developing the confidence to contribute to the ensemble. With the conductor score, I'm better able to support the entire group, making sure each student feels seen, heard, and successful as part of something bigger than themselves.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the excitement in the room was immediate. Many of my students face economic hardship, so having brand-new, high-quality resources felt meaningful to them. They proudly opened their books, carefully labeled their materials, and couldn't wait to begin playing together. The cleaning and maintenance kits sparked thoughtful conversations about responsibility and pride in their instruments, and students were eager to learn how to care for something that represents their hard work and commitment.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using these resources to grow as confident, independent musicians and as a connected ensemble. We are working toward more challenging music, stronger collaboration, and deeper musical understanding. Because of your support, my students have the tools they need to thrive—not just in band, but in the skills of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance that will stay with them long after this class. Thank you for believing in my students and investing in their musical journey.","fullyFundedDate":1760693813525,"projectUrl":"project/access-to-music-for-all-supporting-titl/9818239/","projectTitle":"Access to Music for All: Supporting Title I Band Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Neely","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10308938_orig.jpg?crop=2842,2842,x50,y272&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760207153176","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10308938"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14920","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":525,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":62,"percentWhite":9,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":14920,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Simms Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Simms Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/texas-city-independent-school-district/highlands-elementary-school/14920"}
