My students attend a public school located in a high poverty, urban area. My class is comprised entirely of English Language Learners. Many of these children are newcomers to the U.S. and I am their first teacher. Most of their parents are illiterate in English as well. Therefore, school is the only place where students are exposed to good English models. They are very eager to learn!
