I teach art in a small rural middle school in South Carolina, of about 400 students grades sixth through eighth. All of our school's population receive free lunches due to the high poverty rate in our community. Even though our students are less fortunate than other students in our district they strive to reach their highest potential and I love challenging them with new and innovated Art projects. My students are talented and creative in our fine arts program which include Art, Music, Band and Chorus. I am planning a multi-disciplinary project with our talented Music teacher in which our students will create clay African Udu drums and put on a performance using their hand made creations.
