Please help my creative 3rd graders toward their artistic dreams! I teach in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn in a high-needs school. Due to funding constraints, our school does not have an art program. My love of the arts has made teaching art to my 3rd grade class the only option! I voluntary give up my professional periods just so that my students can have the joy of art that I was fortunate to have in school. Especially with the stress around testing in elementary school, my students need a creative outlet. Art is a chance to build self-esteem (as well as problem solving and motor skills) in a fun way.
