Most of the students we serve in our program do not have access to books at home. By providing these materials in our Promise K program, children will be able to have the opportunity to learn about books and 'play at reading' so that they have the skills necessary to enter kindergarten ready to read. Big books and diverse book titles that I am asking for will impact our students greatly; not only do children enjoy stories tremendously but it will help build a classroom community of readers. With the big book sets, teachers can utilize the book to share with all students at the same time. Teachers can be most effective with instruction with big books such as these. Children can learn to love books and reading with these materials!
