We are a classroom of students who live in a low-income, high poverty and crime area. Our students come from a plethora of backgrounds, heritages, and families! In February we will be moving into our new multi-million dollar school being build by the state as a result of a 2011 tornado that destroyed our old school. On June 1, 2011 we lost most of our classrooms, most of our materials, but NEVER our will to fight. We have come together as a school stronger, prouder and more inclined to do and become better. We have even climbed out of our Level 4 status. Our school is now a family. We work together, we laugh, cry, sing, play and read together. And we continue to do better with each passing day. The students in front of me each day are caring, loving, vibrant, willing, hard working and sensitive young ladies and gentlemen. They all just want to be loved and cared for. I am a lucky teacher.
