Individual book boxes will allow my students to more effectively utilize this wonderful classroom library and empower them with choice and variety throughout the week. By using their book box, students will be able to select and house multiple books to read throughout the week. Students who feel empowered to choose their own books, and have access to wide range of reading material, will develop a love of reading and habit which will help them to become lifelong readers. In helping to foster a love of reading, I've also selected a few strongly recommended read aloud books which emphasize and encourage classroom community. We'll use these read aloud books as a springboard for class discussion that is not dependent on a grade, but highlights important concepts that will help them become better readers without the pressure of being evaluated.
