I have a classroom full of students with diverse learning needs. We come from a school with students from many different backgrounds and cultures. Most of the students here fall below the poverty line. Parents do not have the money to purchase books for the students to read or some do not have the time or transportation to get the children to the library. I have quite a few books in my room, but I have had a lot of requests for books such as The Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, and Harry Potter. I want to provide my students with the opportunity to increase their reading level and potential. Also, we have a class set of wipe boards, but no markers to use on them. I also have laminated maps, worksheets, etc that they can write on with dry erase markers, but we have very very few markers. The students will need those in order to be able to use these classroom materials.
