Our class is a separate setting Intensive Intervention class within the Special Education program at the elementary school level. I currently assist students with disabilities with basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills. We also focus on mastering independent daily living skills, social skills, and time management. We also study core content through the Sciences, Social Sciences and remedial instruction in Language Arts and Mathematics. It is my belief that any child can succeed, provided the right tools and individualized instruction. The students in my classroom benefit from an individualized, hands-on approach to learning. When they are able to manipulate materials and utilize them within daily activities, these students demonstrate greater engagement and comprehension of difficult concepts.
