I work in a school with a 70% free and reduced lunch rate, and a 22% special education population. I teach a special education program that services students from grades K - 6. In my program we provide 1:1 support, in class support, check ins, Positive Behavior Support Plans, academic, social skill, behavior and emotional support. Every student's program is unique and different. Students disabilities vary from high-functioning Autism, Intellectual, learning, and emotional disabilities, Down Syndrome, ADHD, and OHI. Our classroom is a moving structure, that constantly changes throughout the day depending on what students need in the moment. We have structure academic blocks, and then other times where therapies are integrated, social skills, clinician work or structured play. We have a very busy classroom where all students are welcome, feel cared for and safe.
