Giving my students a place to gather as a community! Help them have a place where they can read, build structures, and play and work nicely together as a community. Gathering at the rug is a daily routine. We gather at the rug for morning arrival, attendance and calendar routine, center time to play and work nicely with our friends, during movement when we’re getting our bodies in shape, and nap time. The children can gather at the rug during read aloud and have a comfortable place to relax and listen to their favorite story. Having the rug will relax the children during instruction time; they will only need to focus on the read aloud instead of trying to get comfortable.
