My students are uniquely different. They are funny, innocent, honest, loving, challenging, courageous and sometimes misunderstood. They attend a public school which we all know there is always a need for extra help. I am a teacher who knows what we need in the classroom to make life a bit better for an autistic child who is away from home for seven to eight hours a day. I have students in different levels: high functioning who speak and communicate, low functioning who are nonverbal and students that communicate but are very low learning levels and have sensitive hearing. All very different learning levels but all enjoy a sensory play area, books, computers, music and trampolines. They all stay in an area together. We are not equipped to divide the classroom with areas for all to enjoy.
