I have several students who are English language learners. First grade is a big year and it is important that the students know and understand English before moving on to second grade. This is the first year in a while that a grade has been split. The other grades have one teacher and some classes only have six kids for the whole grade level. Funding is lower for small districts and it is hard to get new technology. The only technology our kids get to use are desktop computers. In the next district over they have two iPads per room and most have iPods for the kids to play on and listen to. I want my kids to have some of the same chances that other kids have.
