My students are a diverse group of second graders who have a wide range of ability levels. Many of my students are emerging readers while others fall between the categories of struggling readers and advanced readers. One common factor that they all share is a desire and eagerness to become better readers. While all of my students are at different reading levels, they understand the importance of reading and utilize every opportunity given to read in each of the subject areas. My school is a Title 1 school that serves students in grades K-5. Several of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our student population is reflective of many different cultures as well as academic levels. As a school, we are passionate about helping all of our students to embrace literature and become lifelong readers. We strive to provide every student with the foundational skills that are necessary for literacy development.
