I am about to begin my first year of teaching with an amazing group of students and I can not wait! I was fortunate enough to student teach in second grade and will be looping up with my same class this year. Our school is a Title I school with more than 90% of students on free or reduced lunch. Despite some of the difficulties my students face at home, they are a wonderful group of kids who are eager to learn, achieve, and meet their goals! We focus on creating a future for ourselves in my classroom. Before silent reading time my students always say "Today a reader, tomorrow a leader!" We have talked about what this means in great detail. My students know that each time they open a book, they are given the opportunity to learn something new, travel somewhere new, or even meet someone new!
