My students live in Detroit, Michigan. Most people cringe when they hear the name of our city. We have developed this reputation of failure, when in reality our students, the future leaders of our world, are doing miraculous things. Our school was just named one of the Top 20 schools in Detroit! Our class sizes are small and we loop together from kindergarten to first grade. Every child is given the tools they need to succeed while they are in our care but sadly many of their families are unable to offer the same educational and financial support outside of school. This is why I am asking for your help. This project will not only help our students and bridge the gap between school and home but will also allow parents and families an opportunity to share in their child's love of learning and reading.
