My fourth graders are from an impoverished, inner city public school. We will again maximize our class size at 33. My students lack the prerequisite background knowledge and vocabulary necessary to compete in our global society. They deserve any resources that exist to enhance their educational experiences. The new Common Core standards emphasize the ability to analyze non-fiction text. The materials I am requesting for this project will greatly increase their knowledge on a variety of topics.
