Down with Doritos! Bye, bye Coca Cola! I'm on a mission to teach my students the benefits and art of healthy eating. Additionally, I want to help eliminate food waste in our school by using leftover fruits and vegetables from the cafeteria to create fun, healthy snacks. Cooking is not only an essential life skill, it is a great opportunity for students to learn essential literacy and mathematical skills. Through cooking and working with recipes, students will practice sequencing, graphing, computation, measurement, and learn to write persuasive, opinion, and how-to paragraphs related to their culinary masterpieces. The Keystone Compact refrigerator will be used to store perishables such as fruits and vegetables, as well as create healthy frozen treats. We will use the KitchenAid blender to make smoothies, healthy ice cream, and non dairy nut milks. The Hamilton Beach Easy Reach Toaster Oven will allow students to bake healthy versions of their favorite foods!
