I am a 4th grade teacher for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). My students attend a self-contained school for children with special needs in NYC. Some of my students are non-verbal, while others have limited speech. It is a challenge to motivate my students to complete classrooms activities. It is also very difficult to have my students socialize and interact with each other. A few of my students have a hard time with fine motor skills such as handwriting. Completing handwriting takes them a long time, and they usually become frustrated with the task. Having a motivating device such as the iPad with a keyboard will initiate desire to type/write.
