My socio-economically diverse group of learners attends a public middle school. Their abilities and enthusiasm for visual art spans a broad range, from far below level to advanced. At both ends of that spectrum, they embrace new art experiences and actively engage with new media and materials . At both ends of the ability range, however, young artists are more engaged when given choices and quality materials with which to create.
