This large rug will be used for students to sit on during Reader's and Writer's Workshop and any other time we need to come together as a class in a closer-set area. This rug will provide a visible space for students to come together as a class. Students need a place to gather during the instructional time, and at this point, they do not. We have tile flooring in all of our classrooms, and I have no budget left to buy a large carpet for our classroom. A large classroom rug would give them a more comfortable spot to sit during our mini-lessons, small group work, and independent work. In addition, it would beneficial to have a place to hang anchor charts for students to refer back to for reading or writing strategies.
