I teach in a wonderful inner-city elementary school where the students are eager to learn. My students are special needs students who want to learn and grow like their peers. They work hard, and they are learning to read well, to think critically and to grow in their decoding and comprehension skills. Motivation is the key. Great literature inspires children to read independently. I know through their independent reading they will achieve more of their dreams as they become better readers.
