My students crave going on adventures and experiencing different cultures and experiences through books. My students come from diverse backgrounds and both culturally and economically. The one common experience that they can have is through literature. They all read the same book and can find things that they all connect too and understand. The use of literature in my classroom brings us together and creates a community. I will use these novels to connect my students to different cultures and to help them connect with each other. We will do research projects and have classroom discussions about what these novels can bring to our lives. We will do vocabulary, research, deep dive questions and analyzation of the novels.
