I hope to reach the variety of student abilities with the resources I have requested. My students will be using the student response system clickers to provide teacher and student with instant, real-time feedback which leads to continual assessment. For example, my Integrated Co-Teaching students are preparing to take the Common Core Algebra 1 Regents exam. As we review in class, students will use their clicker to share their answer for a particular multiple choice question we are studying. In this way, students feel comfortable and confident in sharing their answer since it is anonymous to all except the student and teacher. I, as the teacher, get instant access to know whether a concept has been mastered. Students won't feel embarrassed or judged if their answer is wrong, since no one knows what they answered. It also allows everyone to participate, not just the students that raise their hand or are called on. Clickers make learning mathematics engaging and fun! When students are engaged they learn so much more. The student response system clickers will be shared within the Mathematics department so that over 2000 students at one time or another can be exposed to this new, exciting way of learning.
