I have 20 second grade students in an urban public K-5 elementary school in NC. Our district. like many others, faces budget crunches that effect the ability to purchase these type of items. My students are enthusiastic about reading but sometimes struggle with their fluency at this age. I have a very diverse class with a wide range of reading abilities. These high interest science books will also help them when we study animals at the end of the year.
