These iPads will serve as training devices to teach our students how to use technology to comment, request and initiate conversations with peers and adults. It will also allow them to navigate their community once they learned how to use the iPad to voice out their thoughts. Using the accessibility features of iPad, non-verbal students with autism will be able to socially interact with others using apps such as Gotalk, and Text-Speech. The iPad will give them a voice, allowing them to become more independent, and active participants during class discussions/ group activities. Using the iPad to communicate will also increase their level of involvement during school and community events.
