The school in which I work at services students primarily in the Latino community. 98% of my students are low income, 20% diverse learners and 20% limited English. Despite the obstacles they have to overcome each day, they are some of the best kids around. They understand what hard work and perseverance are and that if you work hard enough for something you can achieve it. Your donation will help us in more ways than one. We unfortunately have no gym at our school, nor do we have fields that are relatively close. But what my team does have is heart and passion for the game. Your donations will help show my athletes that they have the potential to not just be good but to be great. Even though we don't have facilities that allow us to have pitching machines and indoor batting cages, we try working with what we have. The donations we are asking for are bats, gloves, balls and throw down bases. Our girls need bats that will be durable and last for at least 5 years. Each season, at least 5-10 girls come without a glove and it would be essential to keep some in a practice bag in case they cannot purchase one themselves. We are also asking for weighted balls to assist with hitting and rubber balls for indoor practice. Any donations would drastically help our program. With running a new program, my hope is to continue the growth of the athlete's abilities and knowledge so we can hopefully bring two more teams (JV and Freshman) to the table next year.
