I teach 6th grade world geography in a predominately poverty-stricken school. Some of these students have never even left our state before. So in order to bring the countries of the world to the students, we do a lot of hands-on projects. Some are group, some are individual. By doing this, students get to learn about countries in ways they may never get to actually visit.
