My students are English Language Learners, many from lower income families, who enjoy my classes and put forth a tremendous effort each and every day. However, when it comes to reading, I have struggled to engage them. They partake in the classroom readings because they feel they have to and I do not want them to feel this way. I want them to understand that through independent reading, they will not only grow academically, but may actually discover an enjoyment for books that they never knew was there.

About my class
